If you’re looking for a proper Christmas treat for the kids this year, Shangri-La’s Festive Bake For Fun is honestly one of the best. The little ones get to build and decorate a full gingerbread house with real pastry chefs helping them out. No mess at home. Just pure holiday fun and something super cute to bring back. It sells out every year. So don’t sleep on booking. BusyKidd recommends!
What’s It Actually Like?

Each kid gets their own set of pre-baked gingerbread walls and roof, a bag of royal icing, and a ton of sweets – gummies, sprinkles, chocolate buttons, the works. The chefs start with a quick demo: how to stick everything together without it collapsing, and how to pipe neat lines. Then the kids go wild designing their house however they want. It takes about 90 minutes to two hours. It depends on how into it they get. At the end, they pack it up carefully. So you can take the whole thing home.
The workshop is held at Bake. Right next to the buds by the Shangri-La kids’ area in the lobby. The whole place is decked out with massive Christmas trees and lights. So it feels properly festive the moment you walk in.
The Important Stuff
- Age: Best for kids 5 and up. Younger ones are welcome but need an adult right beside them the whole time.
- Dates: 6, 7, 13, 14, and then every day from 20–28 Dec 2025
- Cost: $68 per child (adults are free to join or just watch)
You get everything you need, and they usually give the kids little aprons, too.
Quick Tips From Parents Who’ve Done It

- Get there 10–15 minutes early. Plenty of time for photos under the big tree.
- Put the kids in clothes you don’t mind getting a bit of icing on (aprons help, but not 100%).
- Bring your phone for pics – the concentration faces are gold.
- The houses are delicate once done, so the staff will box them gently. Keep it steady on the way home.
- If anyone has allergies, mention it when you book. There’s gluten, eggs, dairy, and sometimes nuts in the mix.
- Make a full afternoon of it: grab high tea in the lobby afterwards or let the kids play in the buds while you relax.
We’ve done this a couple of times now, and it’s always a highlight of December.
The chefs are patient, the kids feel like proper little bakers, and you leave with something they’ll show off for days.
