Head to the Marina Bay waterfront for a dazzling Lunar New Year Dragon Drone Light Show called “The Legend of the Dragon Gate.” Watch 1,500 drones light up the sky at 8 pm on February 6, 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18, telling a story about dragons and good fortune.

The light show symbolizes luck and prosperity for the Year of the Dragon. It tells a story of carp persistently swimming upstream, leaping through a mythical dragon gate atop a waterfall, and transforming into mighty dragons. The narrative embodies themes of family, reunions, and perseverance.

Stick around for the free “Spectra – A Light and Water Show” at 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm on those dates. It’s a 15-minute performance with fountains, colorful lights, lasers, and music. Enjoy a magical celebration for the Year of the Dragon!

A new place to eat in Singapore, called Cosford Container Park, was opened near Changi Airport. Get ready for the largest outdoor food and beverage container park in town! With 13 fantastic food vendors, live bands, and Instagram-worthy zones, it’s the ultimate spot for delicious eats, great music, and capturing those perfect moments. The Keppel Centre for Art Education at the National Gallery Singapore was reopened with a new look in December 2023. It’s a beautiful place for families, offering children a fantastic way to learn about art through play.

The refreshed Centre introduces new child-friendly learning zones and activities, all centered around the theme of “Art & Wonder: Nurturing Wonder through Play and Creativity.” There are seven immersive zones with interactive experiences, perfect for kids aged 4 to 12. Each zone creates a warm and encouraging environment, allowing children to dive into the world of art with joy and creativity.

To enhance the experience at the renovated Keppel Centre for Art Education, families are encouraged to pre-book a 1-hour 15-minute timeslot during the school holiday period. Time slots are available from 10:00 am to 6:45 pm. Secure your spot here.

The 12th annual Speak Mandarin Campaign Family Talent Competition is here! Teams can showcase their talent with a 4-minute Mandarin performance on the theme “Childhood Memories.” Submit your video by March 24, 2024, for the preliminary round. The first prize includes S$500 cash, tickets to Singapore Flyer, Singapore Zoo, Universal Studios, and more!

There are three categories based on the oldest child’s age: 

  • (A) Kindergarten Level 1 or 2 
  • (B) Primary 1 or 2
  • (C) Primary 3 to 6

Teams can have a minimum of two or up to a maximum of four members.

As part of the competition, Speak Mandarin is organizing in-person workshop sessions. Trainers will share performing techniques like voice projection and stage presence. The workshop costs a minimal fee of S$10. Both parents and children must attend together. Join in the fun and showcase your family’s talent in Mandarin!
