Children’s Day falls on Friday 2 October, a school holiday for primary schools, so many families get a long weekend. Here are the events we’d prioritise.

Octoburst! at Esplanade

Esplanade’s children’s festival returns with free music, storytelling, craft and sports sessions. It couldn’t take place at Esplanade in 2025 because of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, so this is its return. Highlights include a 30-minute Joyful Voices Children’s Choir set at 10.30 am, a Color-Your-Mood Flower Studio (10 am–6 pm), and The Story Keeper’s Room, a new installation with pop-up storytelling sessions best for ages 4 and up. Singapore artists Tan Weiying and Cheryl Ho also bring pop-up storytelling and mass games around the centre. A sensory soundscape, A Universe in Sounds, continues on 3–4 October. Bloomyard is an interactive art exhibition by British artist duo Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker, known as Graphic Rewilding, in partnership with IMBA. Step through a floral arch into a garden of oversized blooms, where you can swing among giant flowers, rally on flower-shaped table tennis tables and play a round of garden mini-golf. Up to 2 kids can enter free with every paying adult over the Children’s Day weekend. Horizon of Khufu: Journey in Ancient Egypt at GROUNDSEESAW Singapore

Strap on a VR headset and travel 4,500 years back in time to the Great Pyramid of Giza. This 45-minute immersive expedition starts with a flight over the Giza plateau, then takes you up to the top of the Pyramid of Khufu for a 360° panorama. From there, you explore the corridors and burial chambers during an embalming ceremony, discover the Queen’s chamber, and take a boat down the Nile to attend Khufu’s funeral. It was developed with Peter Der Manuelian, a Harvard professor of Egyptology, and his Giza Project team, so the history is grounded in research. Participants move around freely and can see each other during the experience, so families and friends explore together rather than in isolation. It has drawn over 250,000 visitors worldwide since launching in Paris in 2022, and Singapore is its latest stop.

F1 Grand Prix Season Singapore

The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix returns to Marina Bay from 9 to 11 October, and 2026 is especially significant: it’s Singapore’s first-ever F1 Sprint race weekend, with a brand-new waterfront Barge Stage and an expanded entertainment precinct in Zone 1. The entertainment line-up is headlined by The Killers and Lana Del Rey, with JJ Lin, CORTIS, Zara Larsson, James Arthur and more across the Padang and Wharf Stages, plus Mark Ronson, DJ Snake, Major Lazer and others at the new Barge Stage. All race tickets include Padang Stage access; the Wharf and Barge Stages need a Zone 1 ticket.

You don’t need a race ticket to join in on most of the fun around the city, though. Grand Prix Season Singapore brings race-themed activities across the city from 2 to 11 October. Expect road closures around race weekend.

Newtonshow Halloween Weekend for Kids

Newtonshow, Singapore’s kids’ science and enrichment club, runs three spooky-fun experiences over Halloween weekend: a Science + Maker Experience with hands-on experiments and making, a Kusama-inspired Pumpkin Art Workshop, and a Halloween Spa Party with beauty-themed activities. All are hands-on, led by Newtonshow’s teachers and hosts, and kids get to take their creations home. Costumes are welcome. For the Science + Maker sessions, one accompanying adult is included; the Spa Party is a kids-only, drop-off experience.
